About Cascadle

Cascadle is a small daily word game. One chain of five words, a new one every day at 00:00 UTC, free and without an account.

Where the words come from

The dictionary of valid guesses is built from the English Speller Database (SCOWL), maintained by Kevin Atkinson. Word frequencies, used to keep answers to words people actually use, come from the FrequencyWords project by Hermit Dave (MIT licensed). Filtering of offensive terms uses the List of Dirty, Naughty, Obscene and Otherwise Bad Words (CC BY 4.0).

Answers are drawn from a much smaller, curated pool than the guess dictionary. If a word ever looks out of place in a daily cascade, we would rather hear about it than leave it in.
